Set aside a box with everything you’ll need for your first night: toiletries, a change of clothes, chargers, snacks, and important documents. Clearly label it as “Essentials” and keep it separate from the rest of your boxes. This will save you from rummaging through multiple boxes when you’re settling in.

It might be tempting to cram as much as you can into a single box to reduce the total number of boxes, but this can lead to damage or make moving them unnecessarily difficult. Keep boxes at a manageable weight, especially for heavier items like books, and use smaller boxes for dense items.
